Mastering function skills is a great place to start in acing the GRE! In this blog post, we will be given an overview of what functions are and how you can solve them on the GRE. We will also share some tips and tricks that will help you improve your score. Let’s get started!

Functions are mathematical relationships between inputs and outputs. In other way, a function is a mapping from one set of values (the domain) to another set of values (the range). Functions can be represented in many ways, but the most common way to represent a function is with a graph. Functions can also be represented using tables or equations.

The GRE will often present questions that ask you to solve for a specific output given an input. To do this, you will need to be able to understand how the function works and what kind of relationship exists between the inputs and outputs. There are a few things that you should keep in mind when solving function problems:

    • First, identify the type of function that is being used. There are many different types of functions, but the most common ones that you will see are linear functions, quadratic functions, and exponential functions.
    • Next, identify the inputs and outputs. Once you know what type of function you are dealing with, it will be easier to identify the inputs and outputs.
    • Finally, use the information that you have to solve for the desired output. This may require using some algebraic skills to solve for a specific variable.

    Let’s Look At An Example:

    Suppose we are given the following function: f(x) = 2x + 3

To solve this function, we first need to identify the type of function it is. In this case, it is a linear function. Next, we need to identify the inputs and outputs. The input in this case is x and the output is f(x). Finally, we can use the information we have to solve for the desired output. In this case, we want to find f(4). To do this, we simply plug 4 in for x in the equation and solve:

    f(4) = 2(4) + 3
    f(4) = 8 + 3
    f(4) = 11

And there you have it! Now you try it!
