1.Turn Off The Power
Identify the circuit to the light switch that you will replace, and turn the power off at the circuit breaker. As an extra precaution, place a Do Not touch sign outside or near the circuit box so that someone else doesn’t by mistake restore power while you are still working on it.
2.Test The Wires And Remove The Switch
After this, remove the wall plate from the existing switch to test the wires using a circuit tester. There are testers used to ensure no power flowing to the cables you’ll be removed during the process.
With the audible tester, a constant beep would indicate that there is still power. The tester confirms that the power is off. When the power is off, remove the screws that hold the old switch in place.
3.Cut The Wires
The old switch has three wires connected at the back: the black, white wire and bare ground. The black and white wires are connected to the new motion-sensor switch, but the ground is not used.
Make sure you then cut the wires at the back of the old switch, which is an important part of the process.
4.Strip The Black And White Wires
Once you remove the old switch, strip the plastic insulation off the ends of the black and white wires by using wire strippers. Removing these wires is also another step that cannot be removed.
5.Connect The Wires To The New Switch
Once the ends of the wires are stripped, they can be hooked up to the new switch. Wrap the end of the black wire around one of the wire connections on the back of the new button. Repeat the same thing with the white wire.
Secure the wires with wire connectors, so they do not come off or are not loose and stay in place for a certain period.

6.Secure The Switch
After connecting the wires:
- Tuck the excess wire into the switch box.
- Position it properly into the connected sensor switch into the switch box.
- Secure the button with the mounting screws and other screws to tighten it.
7.Reinstall The Wall-plate
After the whole process is done, make sure you put things back in place and adjust the sensitivity and the timing of the light activation. Set all the controls to your preferred settings before installing the wall plate.
